3 Tips For Packing Up Your Clothing For A Big Move

Posted on

If you are getting ready to move, one of the last areas of your home that you are probably going to tackle is your bedroom, as you use the items on there on a daily basis. Here are a few tips that will make it easier for you to quickly pack up your bedroom, especially since it may be the last that you pack.

#1 Put Together An Overnight Bag

Before you start packing everything else, put together an overnight bag. Make sure that this bag includes something to wear to bed as well as a couple of outfits for the next few days. This will make getting dressed as you move and unpack a whole lot easier.

#2 Vacuum Pack Your Out-Of-Season Clothing

Next, take all the clothing that you don't use that often, and put it inside of a vacuum packed bag. You can easily pick these bags up at your local department or grocery store. Just pack them full of out-of-season clothing, and use your vacuum to pull all of the air out of the bag. This will cause the bag to shrink up and take up less space.

Plus, when you get to your new house, you don't have to unpack these clothes right away. You can keep these items sealed up until you need them again.

#3 Bag Up Your Closet

For the clothes in your closet, don't take everything off the hanger. Instead, bunch your clothes together and put a garage bag around the bottom of your clothes. That way, when you get to your new home, especially if it is only a short distance away, you can just hang up your clothes and pull off the garbage bag.

#4 Don't Remove Everything From Your Drawers

You are going to want to pull your drawers from your dressers; this will make them easier to move and a lot lighter. However, you don't have to put all of these items into a box. Just take some press-n-seal style saran wrap, and wrap it around your drawers. This will help keep your items in place and will cut down on the need for boxes.

#5 Use Your Suitcases

Finally, if you have any suitcases or overnight bags, load them up with your clothing. There is no need to use boxes when you have storage built for your clothing.

If you use all of the different methods above, you should be able to quickly pack up your bedroom without the use of too many boxes. For more information, contact a business such as Modern Movers, Inc.
